Doctor Baeltz Memorial in the Sai no Kawara Park, Kusatsu, Gunma prefecture, Japan. Erwin von Baeltz was a German doctor and lecturer at the medical faculty of Tokyo Imperial University. He first came to Japan in 1876 and during 30 years of his stay in Japan where he contributed a lot to the modern medecine. After visiting Kusatsu in 1878, he was fascinated by the outstanding medical effects of the springs of Kusatsu. He reported the results of his research to many national and foreign institutes. The memorial was built in 1935. Kusatsu, Japan, November 2006.
